Hands-on palliative nursing
care is provided during the day and overnight in patient’s
homes by a nationwide network of Marie Curie nurses. This
is available through the local district nursing service.
Also runs eleven Marie Curie Centres – admission by referral
from GP or consultant. Both the services are free of charge. |

women with ovarian cancer. Develops and works with other
cancer organisations to provide relevant literature. |

Finding ways to improve the
care and welfare of people whose lives are affected by
prostate cancer. Free information leaflets and telephone
helpline manned by counsellors. A network of self-help

ACT (Association for Children with Life-threatening or Terminal Conditions and their Families)
Encourages the development of children's palliative care services, promotes models of good care and provides information. There is a charter setting out the standards and facilities which should be available for all affected families.
